How an Order Is Processed

  1. You send the size list: OD, wall, length or total quantity, condition and standard.
  2. We confirm which sizes are available, which need to be sourced, and any cutting required.
  3. You receive a quotation covering price, documents and delivery term.
  4. On confirmation the material is allocated, cut if required, checked against the order and packed.
  5. The consignment is dispatched with the mill test certificate and shipping documents.

If you are still deciding on a supplier rather than ready to order, the where to buy 4130 chromoly tubing guide compares the buying options.

What to Have Ready Before You Order

Decide the condition you need. Normalized tube is the usual choice for welded structures; annealed tube suits machining and forming. Decide whether random mill lengths are acceptable or whether you need specific cut lengths, and whether any inspection beyond the standard certificate is required. Settling these points first avoids a second round of quotations. The quotation process page lists every detail a quote needs.

When the Material Arrives

Check the delivery before it goes onto the rack. Count the lengths or pieces of each size, read the marking, and match each heat number to its certificate. Measure the OD and wall on a sample, and look for dents or bends from transit. Report any shortage, damage or mismatch straight away, while the packing is still intact and the material unused. Then store the tube indoors, supported along its length, with the certificates filed where they can be found by heat number. A few minutes at this stage prevents almost every later dispute about what was supplied.
