Large diameter 4130 tubing, broadly three inches OD and above, is bought mostly as stock for machined parts. At these sizes the supply form, tolerance and lead time differ from the small cold drawn tube used in frames.
Large OD Supply Considerations
At larger ODs (above approximately 3"), fewer wall combinations are typically held in stock. The OD/wall combination must be confirmed at the RFQ stage. Large-OD 4130 is more often sourced on a per-order basis rather than from readily available stock. HFS may be the only practical form for the heaviest combinations.

Specifying Large 4130 Tube
Give the finished dimensions of the part as well as the tube size you have in mind. Hot finished tube has wider OD and wall tolerances than cold drawn tube, so the starting size has to allow enough stock to clean up on both surfaces. Stating the finished OD, bore and length lets the right starting size be chosen.
Also say what condition and testing you need. Thick sections respond differently to heat treatment than thin ones, and requirements such as ultrasonic testing or a hardness range should be agreed before the order is placed.
